8 Ways to Recharge your Creativity

How have you been feeling creatively?  We can sometimes feel creatively parched and need a spark to help us 'refill the wells'.  Are you looking for ways to jumpstart your creativity and hit the ground running with new and innovative ideas? Here are some 8 tips to help you get started:

1. Set your sights. Whether it's a new creative idea, a writing challenge, or simply picking up a new skill, having a goal guides your creative compass. Try something new. There are usually quite a few online challenges for you to sink your teeth into, I will also be sharing a Free 12 week course called 'Kickstart Your Creativity Series' in a couple of weeks so sign up to my course platform to be notified. Sign up HERE

2. Make time for daydreaming. Schedule dedicated brain-sparking sessions. Brainstorm in the morning light, doodle during your lunch break, or let your mind wander after dark. In my latest Arts and Wellness Cafe I look at one of the Words for the Month - Stillness In our stillness we can find treasures.

3. Shake things up. Ditch the familiar. Try a new art form, write with a different voice, or explore a tool you've never touched. New experiences unlock hidden creative talents.

4. Find your inspiration tribe. Soak up the creative energy of others. Follow inspiring artists, attend workshops, or join a local group of fellow dreamers. Join us in the Creative Community on the course platform - Check it out HERE

5. Disconnect to reconnect. Sometimes, the best ideas bloom in the quiet. Take a digital detox, go for a nature walk, or lose yourself in a good book. Unplug and let your mind wander. Read that book that you have been promising yourself.

6. Tame the mental chatter. Mindfulness practices like meditation can help you focus and quiet your inner critic. A calm mind is a fertile ground for creativity. Take out your needles and thread and do some slow stitching - You can pick up some inspiration in Material Musings

7. Embrace the unknown. Step outside your comfort zone. Learn a new dance, travel to a new place, or take a class in something totally unfamiliar. New experiences jumpstart innovation.

8. Just start. Perfectionism is the creativity killer. Don't overthink it, just dive in. Pick up a pen, play with some paint supplies, doodle, create with recycled materials, do some slow stitching. The act of creation itself is the magic spark that ignites imagination.

Remember, creativity is a journey, not a destination. Keep experimenting, keep exploring, and keep feeding your curiosity. The well of wonder is always waiting to be refilled, and the greatest creations start with a single step. Now go forth and create!

I am on Patreon - Come and Join me

I took the plunge and started a Patreon Page a while back, as I move forward in my bid to create free content for those interested in the use of creativity and the effect on our health and well-being.

My passion is creating and sharing how the Arts and Creativity can impact our health and well-being and in the process help you spend more time using creativity to unlock your creative talents.

What is Patreon?

Patreon is a place where you can support artists who create content you love, so they can make more content. It's kind of like a membership with different tiers, the cool thing is that you get rewards for each month you support, whether that is just once or on an ongoing basis.

I have been an artist for over 15 years, a mother, a carer and a creative soul.  I looked after my mother for over 17 years and have seen first hand the changes that take place in a loved one living with dementia and the impact on the family.  I was not longer able to care for my mother and a few years ago and had to put her in a nursing home which was devastating.

Art Heals

I used art and creativity as a tool to help me through the 17 years and saw first hand the positive impact that it had for me as well as my mother and I went on to share my art and creativity with men and women who attended a day care center specializing in dementia care.

I believe everyone should have access to the arts across the board. Creating and sharing what I am doing, encouraging participation and hopefully being inspiring means so much to me, especially when you can create important resources for free. The importance of the arts to our lives really came to the forefront of what I was doing when my mum started showing signs of Alzheimer’s which is now in the severe stages and while the effects were devastating, Art and Creativity and improving both of our nutrition helped us navigate the uncharted territory, and there has and continues to be so many treasured moments.

The Arts gave us the space to express ourselves in ways that words could not. I have been creating and developing resources for everyone and anyone who just wants to be able to create and find themselves in the midst of their situation too, I also started a free Arts and Health network sharing and curating information about Arts and Health events globally. If I can make a positive impact on just one person that would be a blessing.

Subscribe to a Tier on Patreon

My goal is to help you find ways to incorporate art and creativity into your life and to find those pockets of time.  My art and workshops are designed to inspire you to dream, to remind you of all that you already know, and to help you discover the best parts of yourself.

Check out the Tiers below

I want to do more and I’d LOVE for you to be part of the adventure with me.

Through your subscription to my Patreon page, I will have the resources to create more art and more content (including ongoing workshop series, digital downloads, tutorials, vlogs, books!). And you will have access to as little or as much as you want. You decide when you select your subscription tier!

I want to create community; a space where we can all share and spread our creative wings together. I want to share the ins an the outs of this imperfect, messy and beautiful journey and I want inspire you on your own journey.  The ability to create isn't reserved for the special. It is for ALL of us.

Your soul knows there is more,  Your mind has forgotten. My work aims to remind you while you increase your creativity and unlock your hidden talents, Join me.”

In the News - The Real Art of Street Art!

In the News!

Out and about taking mum for a little stroll I was quite taken aback with how much Street Art there is around Camden, and had promised myself that when I got a chance I would take some photographs.

Mum wrapped up and keeping warm as we stroll around Camden.

Our stroll provided the opportunity that we needed.  The rain had stopped and it is surprisingly mild for the year, so armed with my phone and mum wrapped up warm, we spent our time being creatively filled'

The talent of the artists were amazing and it is so good to see so many unused buildings and neglected spaces turned into 'street galleries',

not only brightening up the area but also showcasing the talent that is within the local community and around the world.

The organisation that made this happen is called The Real Art of Street Art - founded in 2011 they provide 'legal walls' in Camden for street artists to show their work providing opportunities for them to paint legally.

I was lucky enough to meet Street Artist Mr Cenz in action as he put the finishing touches on his amazing piece, and he has quite a few paintings around Camden that I have been admiring.

Check out his website and take a look at his amazing talent!

It is definitely worth taking time out to pay Camden a visit, and with the Stables and Camden Lock it is quite a tourist magnet.

The Real Art of Street Art openly welcomes you to request your own wall, and will link to artists on their facebook page.

If you get a chance, come to Camden and take a look at the amazing artwork that is popping up all over the community.

To find out about the work of the artists shown and to see some more amazing street art by some of the other artists check out The Real Art of Street Art  facebook page
